The Inter triumph under Simone Inzaghi means for the third year in a row, Serie A has been won by a coach who had never celebrated a Scudetto before.

The Nerazzurri were out in front practically from start to finish this season and their title never seemed in doubt after winning the head-to-head with Juventus.

They clinched it with a 2-1 victory ‘away’ to rivals Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.

Inzaghi therefore gets to clinch his first ever Serie A trophy as a coach, having won it as a player for Lazio in 1999-2000.

Inzaghi continues trend

In a curious twist, this is the third season in a row with a debutant victor at the helm.

Luciano Spalletti had never enjoyed the Scudetto before steering Napoli to an historic achievement in 2022-23 and marked the occasion with a tattoo on his arm.

So did Stefano Pioli the year before, when he finally got his first Serie A title at Milan in 2021-22.

Antonio Conte is the only coach in the last five seasons to have won the Scudetto for the first time, as before that Maurizio Sarri broke his duck at Juventus in 2019-20.

In a league with three different winning teams in a row, the only consistent aspect has been Inter, who have been at least in the top three for five seasons in a row.

The Nerazzurri won in 2020-21 and 2023-24, then were runners-up in all the other seasons except for third place in 2022-23.
