Milan's Riccardo Montolivo sees Coach Filippo Inzaghi as more than a ‘motivator’, and believes Roma are not an inaccessible opponent.

Ahead of the game this Saturday between the Rossoneri and the Giallorossi, Montolivo discussed some of the strengths instilled into his side by Inzaghi, who has debuted this year as a Coach.

“The quality that everyone recognises in him is the ability to give you a strong drive, to be a motivator,” said the 29-year-old.

“But he has another quality that gets less attention, and that's his ability to learn quickly.

“In only a few months he has shown a lot of growth. He is like a sponge, he absorbs everyone's advice.

“He has his own identity in terms of how the team should play, but I think that when a Coach is at the early stages, he has an obligation to listen to those who have greater experience.”

Montolivo was also positive that the 2-0 victory against Napoli counted for more than just the three points.

“The victory against Napoli was important – we had to send a signal, externally as well as internally.”

As for the game against Roma, while the team from the capital enter the game as the favourites, Montolivo believes the Rossoneri can still have their say.

“It's not an inaccessible game. Of course, they are a team of an exceptionally high level. But the real challenge is against ourselves.”

Milan face Roma at the Stadio Olimpico this Saturday evening.
