Simone Inzaghi warns Samir Handanovic could well miss tomorrow’s game against Udinese too, but he has faith in Ionut Radu and Inter to keep the Scudetto race alive.

It kicks off on Sunday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT) at the Dacia Arena, after leaders Milan have already played Fiorentina.

Handanovic was dealing with a back injury in the rescheduled midweek trip to Bologna, when Radu’s late howler on a back-pass allowed Nicola Sansone to seal the 2-1 victory.

That result means Milan now have a two-point advantage at the top of the table, technically three, as the Rossoneri also have a superior head-to-head record.

“Handanovic has an issue, he worked separately in training today. There is some home he could play tomorrow, otherwise we have Radu and Alex Cordaz ready,” said the coach in his press conference.

“The mood after the Bologna game wasn’t the best, it was very disappointing, but I’ve seen a strong team spirit over the last few days. Every game is difficult, this side will try until the end. We’ll take it one game at a time, in Serie A and the Coppa Italia Final, and hope to give the fans more joy after winning the Supercoppa.”

That rescheduled Serie A Week 20 fixture could prove to be a key moment in the Scudetto race, as the Nerazzurri had been leading 1-0 in the opening minutes.

“Like our defeat to Milan, we deserved a better result in Bologna, but that is football. A mistake can happen for a goalkeeper, just like a striker can miss an open goal or a coach get the substitution wrong. We won’t give up, anything could still happen and we reacted in the best possible way over the last couple of days.”

Robin Gosens and Arturo Vidal are back in the squad, but Alessandro Bastoni is injured and Hakan Calhanoglu suspended.

“If Handanovic doesn’t make it, then Radu will play and I have total faith in him. He is a very good goalkeeper, he has always been at our disposal even if he didn’t play much and has an important career ahead of him.”

Udinese are coming off a shock 4-0 win away to Fiorentina in another Week 20 fixture, so are not to be under-estimated.

“More than thinking about what Milan, Napoli or Juventus do, I focus on Udinese,” added Inzaghi.

“Not enough has been said about the fact this team is in good shape, has quality and physical strength. Every game is difficult in Serie A.”

  1. Radu is a worthless sack of garbage, but inzaghi even more so. Inter should have sealed months ago, but this coach is a joke.

    Go back to Rome.

  2. Radu is non-selectable it really is that simple. He is weak.

Inzaghi is a quality coach, just not Conte quality

Time to stand up & be counted

  3. Radu made a huge mistake, but inzaghi is to blame for fielding him.

Also inzaghi is to blame for inters long bad run.

Inzaghi is to blame for inter losing the scudetto, not radu. Inzaghi is a midtable coach and needs to gtfo.

  4. A player that’s professional like radu Shud not make them mistakes ffs he gets enough money got no sympathy for him

  5. @Adi

Every player makes mistake whether be IT professional or amateur

It doesn’t matter how much money he earns
