Simone Inzaghi won his seventh Final in a row in all competitions, as Inter retained the Coppa Italia beating Fiorentina 2-1. ‘We want to keep this great season going.’

Inzaghi is known as Italy’s King of Cups, because this is the seventh consecutive Final he has won between Inter and Lazio as a coach.

He had already won the Coppa Italia in 2018-19 at Lazio, then two in a row with Inter, while this is the ninth edition of the Coppa Italia for the club.

“I am happy, because we won a cup that we wanted, to confirm what we did last season. Fiorentina are a quality team who caused us a lot of problems,” Inzaghi told Mediaset.

Yet Fiorentina had taken the lead within three minutes when Nico Gonzalez was left unmarked at the back post, until Lautaro Martinez bagged a brace approaching half-time to turn it around for the 2-1 victory.

“We started badly and had the wrong approach, which is rare for us, but the lads did well to stay in the game anyway and then turn it around.”

It has already been another successful season for the Nerazzurri, who retained both the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana from last season, and have yet to face Manchester City in the Champions League Final on June 10.

“We have the final two Serie A games, then Istanbul and a great season we want to keep going.”
