According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, new Inter owners have informed Simone Inzaghi that the wage bill for the 2024-25 campaign will remain unaltered, while the coach will soon return to the club headquarters to sign a contract extension.

Inzaghi met new Inter owners for the first time on Tuesday after the end of the 2023-24 Serie A campaign that saw the Nerazzurri become Italy champions for the 20th time in history.

Multiple reports in Italy claim it was an introductory meeting, which means Inzaghi and new Inter owners did not discuss transfer strategies in depth or the coach’s contract extension.

However, Inzaghi is expected to meet owners and club directors soon to put pen to paper on a new two-year deal.

Oaktree’s decision over Inter wage bill revealed during meeting with Inzaghi

According to Gazzetta, the Oaktree members meeting Inzaghi on Tuesday were Alejandro Cano, Katherine Ralph, Roberto Meduri and Carlo Ligori.

They complimented the Italian tactician for his job over the last three years and said they are not aiming to lower the wage bill which is currently set at circa €119m gross.

The Nerazzurri won’t need to sell any of their stars for financial reasons, but they could part company with some of their current players to boost their transfer budget and try to match Lautaro Martinez’s salary demands.

Football Italia transfer pundit Matteo Moretto reports that the highest offer Inter can make for their captain is €10m per season, including bonuses.
