Simone Inzaghi suggested his Inter are ‘in a good moment’ in a crucial stage of the season, proud of his squad after their 6-0 win over Hellas Verona.

The Nerazzurri cruised to a confident win away to the Gialloblu this evening, picking up another important three points in their quest for a top four finish. Goals came from Hakan Calhanoglu, Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez, giving the team a key boost in momentum ahead of their must-win clash with Roma.

Inter are gearing up for the most important Derby della Madonnina clash in decades, facing Milan in the Champions League semi-finals this month.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Inzaghi first reacted to Inter’s 6-0 win over Hellas Verona.

“Let’s say that we are in a good moment, we are playing well and materialising. We have recovered important players and now the results are coming. I’m happy, but we must continue.

“In less than 72 hours we’ll be in Rome, and we have to put together a great match. Tonight, the guys did very well against a team that had only lost to Fiorentina at home in 2023.”

He touched on the team’s fight for a top four finish.

“We have the obligation to get into the top four and we know that our schedule is not easy, as well as that pitfalls are around the corner. We will have an intense finale, but with this spirit and this organisation we are happy with the moment.”

The Nerazzurri coach explained why he kept Lautaro and Dzeko on the pitch for the entire match.

“I have the obligation to give confidence to everyone, in the schedule that we have we have been good at solving not obvious matches.

“I am very satisfied because I have very good answers from everyone, and we must continue. We had previously lost some very important points.”

Inzaghi was asked why Francesco Acerbi features so heavily for Inter and if Alessandro Bastoni is at more risk of injury.

“Francesco I’ve known for a long time, he has very high concentration and manages to keep it for several matches.

“On Sunday he made a mistake and tonight I was in doubt. I preferred him, but Bastoni is also very reliable.”

He touched on the most important improvements made recently.

“The main thing that has changed is to finish actions and score goals, I think of the games against Salernitana or Fiorentina.

“I don’t think that was a different Inter and a point in those two games wasn’t deserved. But this is football, we know that games must be unblocked and then won. The first goal tonight helped us, but the team approached the evening well.”

The Inter coach discussed the difficulties facing the team this month.

“Well, we had the hope of going back to the final of the Coppa Italia and the semi-final of the Champions League, we didn’t have the certainty, but I have great professionals with me who help me prepare the games.

“We are happy, we know that we still have to continue, now we have straightened out the table a little bit and we have to be good at thinking one match at a time, without thinking about the next one.”

Finally, Inzaghi was jokingly asked about the fact that he still has his voice left after the 6-0 win.

“Fortunately, my voice has been holding up quite well for the last four or five months.”
