Simone Inzaghi praised the Inter ‘attitude, technique and attacking the space’ for their 5-0 demolition of Salernitana, as he looks ahead to an extraordinarily tough fixture list.

The Nerazzurri look unstoppable at the moment, registering a sixth consecutive Serie A victory.

It was also their fifth in a row with a clean sheet, something they had only ever achieved in 1989 and 1996, scoring 16 goals during that period with no reply.

This was one-way traffic at the Stadio Arechi, with goals from Ivan Perisic, Denzel Dumfries, Alexis Sanchez, Lautaro Martinez and Roberto Gagliardini.

Serie A | Salernitana 0-5 Inter: It’s a five-star Inter performance

“These games on paper look simple, but that’s not the case. The lads had the right attitude from the start, I made changes and you couldn’t even tell, because everyone steps up the same way,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We have our ninth game in 25 days coming up, it’s the last push before the break for Christmas and we need to grit our teeth.”

Inter have an extraordinarily tough fixture list coming up, facing Lazio, then Juventus in the Supercoppa on January 12, Atalanta away on January 16, leading into the derby with Milan on February 6 and visiting Napoli on February 13.

The Alexis Sanchez goal was a perfect counter-attacking move, starting from their own penalty area with a series of passes between Sanchez, Edin Dzeko and Hakan Calhanoglu.

“There’s technique, attacking the space, it was a really well-worked goal,” confessed Inzaghi.

“I thought we always played good football, but with the Champions League commitments we dropped points along the way.

“We did well to keep our heads up, got back to the top of the table and now we want to stay there. These lads never stopped, especially those who went on international duty and made long journeys. We need that break so everyone can recharge their batteries.”

Inter will face Liverpool in the Champions League Round of 16 in February. Looking at the Nerazzurri’s current form, should Jurgen Klopp be concerned?

“Liverpool, Manchester City and Bayern Munich were the teams we hoped to avoid, but that is the draw. We’ll have to see the form going into February, with fitness levels and injuries.

“We know that we are up against a side that won the tournament two years ago and won six out of six in the group phase this season, but we’ll prepare that when we get closer to the time.”
