Simone Inzaghi suggested that his Inter side have found some consistency after their chaotic start to the season.

After the first eight matches of the season, the Nerazzurri found themselves in ninth place, picking up four wins and four losses. Concern was starting to grow in the Lombardy capital, but Inter used some positivity from their Champions League clashes with Barcelona to fire them up domestically and start climbing up the table.

Inter now sit fourth in Serie A, three points behind joint second Juventus and Milan.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the game against Hellas Verona, Inzaghi first discussed the state of his team heading into the match.

“We come from a tough match, but we are happy to have passed the round. Now we find a team in excellent condition, they have played two important games but also those against Juve and Milan show that we have a healthy team.”

He touched on the importance of hard work from his players.

“Very important because we have issues, but with close games and five substitutions I need the whole squad.”

The Italian coach spoke about his plans to counter Verona’s three-man defence and reliance on wing play.

“It will be an intense game, now many teams in Italy and Europe play with a three-man defence. Running and determination will be key.”

He commented on what he’d like to improve in his team.

“In these matches I have seen the team focused and motivated, we know the path of the three games and we know we have to improve all the time because playing every three days you always face difficulties.”

Inzaghi reflected on why Inter’s season has been fairly chaotic.

“Considering the defeat against Roma, we then won seven games out of the next nine in the league. Then there was the draw at Monza that I don’t want to talk about anymore.

“We’ve been consistent in the last three months, but we know that we have to eliminate conditions that sometimes affect matches.”

Finally, Inzaghi discussed if his line-up against Verona would reflect his plans for the Supercoppa Italiana clash with Milan.

“We know what awaits us in Riyadh, we know how important it is for the club and the fans, but today is Friday and tomorrow with Verona we’ll field the best possible squad, obviously assessing what the injuries are.”
