Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi admits Ciro Immobile could start on the bench at Fiorentina tomorrow.

The striker is struggling with an injury, and Serie A’s top-scorer may not be risked from the start against the Viola.

“He took a very bad hit to his instep in the derby,” Inzaghi explained in his pre-match Press conference.

“This morning he worked in the water and we’ve ruled out any breaks. He’ll certainly be in the squad, we’ll see how he is tomorrow.

“He has no problem running, he took a knock to his instep, so there could be some issues with kicking it.

“There are 24 hours to go though, so we’ll see tomorrow morning then tomorrow afternoon we’ll decide whether he starts or goes to the bench.

“I’m calm though, because I have the whole squad available apart from Patric and [Stefan] Radu.

“If Immobile doesn’t make it I’ll have Nani and [Felipe] Caicedo, who are training to their maximum. The choice will come down to one of them.”

Inzaghi was then quizzed over why he never plays Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Felipe Anderson and Luis Alberto together.

“I think a team should have balance, they played together in Udine. In other teams too, when there are so many great players the Coaches have to give someone up.

“Look at Juventus, it happens just the same there, they’re a prime example. Those who stay out can still help us hugely, I don’t think we’re only influenced by the initial XI.

“Input from the bench is crucial, Felipe won us the first leg against Salzburg and Luis Alberto did well when he came on in the derby.

“A Coach has to be rational, understand the players he has and those he’s going to face.

“For me it’s not difficult to choose [between Felipe Anderson and Luis Alberto], it’s more difficult for them.

“If they both play tomorrow, that probably means Miliknovic won’t. If the Serb plays, I’ll give up one of them.”

How many points will Lazio need to qualify for the Champions League?

“I’ve never done tables,” Inzaghi shrugged.

“You can’t think about the six games, what comes next is the important thing. We need to play a great game in Florence, it’s easy to make tables.

“Fiorentina have conceded one goal in the last seven, they were coming off five consecutive wins and could also have won against Spal.

“I know their Coach [Stefano Pioli] and he’s shrewd and well-prepared.”
