Simone Inzaghi explains his squad rotation as Inter visit Bologna, welcomes back Marcelo Brozovic and admits there will always be ‘memories’ of their costly defeat here last season.

It kicks off at the Stadio Dall’Ara at 11.30 GMT.

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from today’s four Serie A games on the LIVEBLOG.

Federico Dimarco, Milan Skriniar and Joaquin Correa are out of action, while Nicolò Barella, Edin Dzeko and Francesco Acerbi are rested following the midweek 1-0 Champions League win over FC Porto.

“Playing so many games, some fatigue is only to be expected. We are missing a few players, but have the utmost confidence in who will play against a Bologna side in good form,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

Brozovic is in the starting XI for the first time in Serie A since before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as during his injury lay-off Hakan Calhanoglu has become difficult to shift from that role.

“We all know how important he is for us. He is in good shape, he played well against Udinese and came on to make a good impact against Porto.

“Acerbi and Barella played more than anyone lately, so they were rested. Dimarco and Skriniar tried to grit their teeth and carry on, but we hope they will already be available from the next match.”

The Stadio Dall’Ara has bad memories for Inter, as it was the 2-1 rescheduled defeat here last season that effectively lost them the Scudetto to rivals Milan, with a howler from goalkeeper Ionut Radu on his first appearance of the campaign.

“It is a memory, but let’s not forget that during that run we had 10 wins out of 11 games. We come here with that memory and above all hope to give consistency to our recent results, which are positive.”
