Inter have won nine consecutive matches across all competitions for the first time since 2021 and haven’t faced a shot on target in a Champions League game for the first time since 2006.

The Nerazzurri beat La Liga giants Atletico Madrid 1-0 on Tuesday night in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at the Stadio Meazza.

As reported by Opta on X, formerly Twitter, the Nerazzurri didn’t concede a shot on target in a Champions League for the first time since November 2006, when Roberto Mancini was in charge of the Serie A giants. Inter beat Sporting CP 1-0 on that day with a goal from Hernan Crespo.

However, they were eliminated by Valencia in the Round of 16.

Inzaghi has equalled another former great Inter coach, Antonio Conte, who was the last Inter manager to win nine consecutive matches across all competitions with the Nerazzurri. It happened between February and April 2021 and the Serie A giants went on to win the Serie A title that season.
