It’s reported that Filippo Inzaghi has been assured his job at Milan is safe for the moment, after lunch with Adriano Galliani.

The Coach was thought to be on the verge of being sacked after Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Verona, the latest in a series of disappointing results.

However, this morning it was reported that joint-CEO Adriano Galliani had defended the Coach, convincing Silvio Berlusconi to keep him around.

However, this morning it was reported that joint-CEO Adriano Galliani had defended the Coach, convincing Silvio Berlusconi to keep him around.

Now Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that Inzaghi had lunch with Galliani at Milanello today, and will take training as normal ahead of the Fiorentina match.

SportMediaset backs this up, and says that Berlusconi phoned Inzaghi personally to offer assurances over his future.

Despite this, his long-term future is far from assured, and a negative result against the Viola could yet see him vacate the San Siro bench.

Calciomercato speculates that the former striker will be allowed to remain in the job, but only until the summer when the Diavolo will try to lure Borussia Dortmund’s Jurgen Klopp or Vincenzo Montella of Fiorentina.
