“We need to put in a great team performance, try to be at 120 per cent and hope that Inter aren’t at 100 per cent,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The important thing is that we must believe in ourselves, go there with a confident air and know we can play our game. It’ll be very satisfying to see Inter respect Benevento.”

This is always a special stadium for Inzaghi, who represented Milan as both a player and a coach.

“San Siro is where I basically built my career. I came to Milan in order to play at San Siro. I remember the first goal I scored in the derby, when we were losing and then won 4-2.

“The rivalry with Inter has always been strong, but fair.”

There’s another familiar face, as Inzaghi was teammates with Antonio Conte at Juventus, but the Inter boss will be watching from the stands.

“I maintained a good relationship with him, he is a great coach. It’s just disappointing he won’t be there on the touchline because of a ban.”
