Simone Inzaghi’s agent Tullio Tinti joked the coach would be happy to commit to Inter ‘until 2037’ after initial negotiations for a new contract.

The representative was in a meeting with the new Nerazzurri chiefs this afternoon, just weeks after the club was taken over by Oaktree and CEO Beppe Marotta promoted to the role of President.

Tinti spoke to reporters as he exited the club headquarters and joked about their plans for the future.

“We are talking. In my view, he can stay until 2037, how is that?” laughed the agent.

“We are just at the start. In any case, everyone wants to go forward, we have work to do. We are not setting a timeline, we’ll meet up again.

“After all the ownership of the club has just changed and they too have people to answer to.”

Inzaghi won six trophies at Inter in three years

The 48-year-old coach joined Inter in the summer of 2021 and has taken them to three editions of the Supercoppa Italiana, two Coppa Italia trophies and their historic 20th Serie A title.

The plan is to sign a new contract to June 2027, improving Inzaghi’s salary to €6.5m per season plus performance-related bonuses.

Tinti also represents other players currently in the Inter squad, including Alessandro Bastoni and goalkeeper Emil Audero, the latter still on loan from Sampdoria.

“Inter have until June 14 to activate the release clause for Audero, we’ll see. Bastoni has a four-year contract and feels the Inter jersey is like a second skin.”
