Bologna Coach Pippo Inzaghi is excited by the prospect of pitting his wits against his brother, Lazio boss Simone, on Boxing Day.

The Serie A fixtures were released yesterday evening, with Inzaghi having recently replaced Roberto Donadoni in charge of the Rossoblu.

And reflecting on his new club’s schedule, he admitted that one fixture stands out for him more than any other.

“The special match? For me they will all be special, but clearly Bologna-Lazio on 26 December has a particular flavour,” Inzaghi said of the meeting with his younger sibling.

“For me and my family it will be an exciting Christmas.”

This will not be the first time Inzaghi has coached in Serie A, with the former forward having previously been in charge of Milan.

However, he dropped down to Serie C to take the reins at Venezia after being sacked by the Rossoneri.

And having since steered Venezia to promotion, followed by a play-off place in their first season back in Serie B, the ex-Italy international is keen to ensure his players are ready for their return to top-flight action.

“We need to make sure we are ready and in shape straight away.

“We start with a much anticipated derby with SPAL. Then in the first month we have matches against Inter and Roma, which will be two of the toughest of the season.”
