Investcorp’s Milan emerge as possible Chelsea escape for Lukaku

Milan may provide Romelu Lukaku a way out of Chelsea but a deal hinges on two takeovers and extremely complicated negotiations.

As detailed by Nizaar Kinsella, Goal.com’s Chelsea correspondent, the Rossoneri are keen on the idea of bringing the Belgian striker back to Serie A in the summer but first Investcorp’s takeover will need to be fully finalised.

Talks are currently ongoing with Elliott and things are looking positive. The Bahraini investment fund then may look to make a statement signing right out of the gate once things have been completed.

Milan have clearly been lacking a solid striker this season and Lukaku has proven his ability in Serie A before, but a deal would also be extremely expensive. It’s likely that it would be a loan move and that the Rossoneri would ask for Chelsea to pay some of his wages in order to make a deal viable.

Another factor that complicates things is that Chelsea’s takeover would also need to be completed, as it’s impossible to imagine the €115m man leaving during a change in management.
