Investcorp have a clear plan in mind regarding both Inter and the capacity for Milan’s new stadium.

The work of Inter and Milan to build a new stadium and move from the current Stadio Giuseppe Meazza has been one of the most talked about topics in recent months, with the two clubs growing increasingly frustrated with the slow bureaucratic process. A takeover of the Rossoneri by the Bahraini investment fund would certainly change things, however.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, there’s a chance that an Investcorp-led Milan will look to push forward with a new stadium on their own, not moving ahead with intercity rivals Inter. One of the reasons for this is so fans can have a unique match-day experience, although it would help in revenue generation as well.

In addition, the question of capacity also bothers the Bahraini investment fund; Populous’ Cathedral project expects a capacity of 60,000, 15,000 less than the current Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Investcorp are reportedly unwilling to lose out on these extra seats.

  1. san siro has alot of history. but it would be a smart move by milan to not look to share a stadium with inter going forward. it makes good business sense to have your own stadium

  2. It would also make sense so the pitch has a bit more time to heal instead of looking at a quagmire some of the season.

  3. They are right to want their own stadium. Screw this stupid thing we have in Italy to share stadiums. You own your stadium you don’t have to pay any rent to the city and all that revenue every week is yours. I hope they go through with this and hopefully it’ll put pressure on the Italian government to hurry the heck up with their slow antiquated process.

  4. I really like the cathedral design. Looks like that will be scrapped.

All that will be left is the CGI . We have a panini album now, Roma stadium, the porta nuova design, fiorentima mecifir, Parma’s redesign.

  5. Shared or not, the stadium plan has to be fulfilled. I don’t understand why politicians in Italy do not put forward laws to speed up these processes. All win with this – more jobs, taxes, interest in football increases, more tourism, the list is endless…

  6. Inter can keep renting the San Siro from the Milan Government.
Milan should build their own stadium. They have enough gate receipts to earn their owners a lot of money.

  7. Inter can rest easy as they can always play their games in the Bird’s Nest if all else fails. I am on board with Invescorp’s thinking. The soon to be washed up Inter have no right to take any of the profits and benefits if we do all the heavy lifting.
