Victor Osimhen was the key figure in Napoli’s important 1-0 win over Roma last night, earning praise from the Italian media.

The 23-year-old Nigerian forward scored the winning goal for Luciano Spalletti’s side in the 80th minute of the clash at the Stadio Olimpico, doing enough to secure all three points for Napoli and keep them top of the league table. Osimhen has scored in his last two league outings following his recovery from a muscle injury, instantly hitting the ground running again.

La Gazzetta dello Sport pointed to his goal when praising Osimhen’s performance, noting that “at Smalling’s first distraction, he scored a great goal, despite having little on offer.”

This sentiment was echoed by Corriere dello Sport, who were impressed with his ability to find the back of the net despite the difficulty of the chance, saying “he seems to have to systematically crash into Smalling and instead he stole time and space and then, almost without a corner, he found the goal.”

Tuttosport called Osimhen invaluable for his work on the pitch, exclaiming “how much is he worth!”

The 23-year-old Nigerian forward has scored five goals and provided one assist in nine appearances across all competitions this season.
