Inter have had at least one of their players in every World Cup Final since 1982, from Giuseppe Bergomi to Ivan Perisic.

Seven Inter players will be involved in Qatar 2022, including Argentina strikers Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa.

The Nerazzurri hope to continue their tradition in the World Cup, where they’ve had at least one of their players representing the club in every Final since 1982.

Beppe Bergomi, Lele Oriali and Alessandro Altobelli played in the 1982 Final at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Spain, where Italy lifted their third World Cup after beating Germany 3-1.

Four years later, their captain Karl-Heinz Rummenigge scored a goal in another Final lost by Germany 3-2 against Diego Armando Maradona’s Argentina.

The Germans got their revenge at Italia ’90 when Inter’s Andreas Brehme scored the decisive penalty against Argentina in a 1-0 victory.

Nicola Berti played in the 1994 Final lost by Italy on penalty against Brazil and in 1998, Youri Djorkaeff’s France beat Ronaldo’s Brazil at the Stade De France in Paris.

The Brazilian striker scored a brace in the 2002 Final against Germany before joining Real Madrid, while Marco Materazzi was instrumental to Italy’s win over France four years later, scoring the equaliser in the first half in Berlin and converting a penalty kick in the shootout.

Wesley Sneijder’s Holland lost the 2010 Final to Spain and the same is true of Rodrigo Palacio in 2014 against Germany. The ex-striker was introduced in the second half, replacing Gonzalo Higuain.

Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic lost the most recent Final with Croatia against France at Russia 2018.
