Romelu Lukaku is reportedly willing to return to Inter at the end of the season, but according to multiple reports, the Nerazzurri are not planning to re-sign the Chelsea striker.

Lukaku has only scored ten goals at Stamford Bridge this season and was left on the bench in the last Champions League match against Lille on Tuesday.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere della Sera, he wants to return to Inter and is ready to take a pay cut to play at San Siro again.

Gazzetta: unhappy Lukaku wants Inter return

However, multiple reports, including Gazzetta and FCInter1908, insist that Inter are not planning to re-sign the Belgium international. The Serie A champions want to cut costs and can’t afford to pay the same fee (€113m) invested by the Premier League champions less than a year ago. FCInter1908 deny that Lukaku is in contact with Inter directors.

In December, the 28-year-old released an interview with Sky Sport Italia, claiming that he’d like to return to San Siro one day, offering his apology for the way he left in the summer. However, this may not be enough to see him return to the black and blue half of Milan.

  1. I thought he asked to be sold to Chelsea. That’s why he was shown the door. Regardless I’d take him back. Pay $30m to Chelsea (or better yet get him to tear up his contract) and he says he’d take a pay cut. Job done.

  2. Inter can do well without him, why would inter pay excessive money for an ex who leave because of money, his return to inter would just be a romantic move but going forward with his wage demand and transfer fee would be a huge burden

  3. He burned that bridge when he chose to leave for Chelsea. Inter didn’t force him to leave and would’ve sold someone else if he wanted to stay. He chose Chelsea and will likely NEVER play for us again.

  4. Well, at the end of the season chelsea will sell him on whole sale price, and he would take a big pay cut as well, so he’d be an attractive option to all interested clubs, and I’d say inter and Tottenham would be first option!
And to these ultras believing he burned all the bridges to inter: give him a break, it’s not that he went to Bilan or juBentus!

  5. Remember, he is 29 this year. His value should be around 50-60 mil. Of course Chelsea overpaid, but who am I to complain?

  6. We have made enough money from selling him …. There is no need for him anymore as there was no Icardi ….
