The pressure continues to mount on Simone Inzaghi and Inter who slipped to their fourth loss in five Serie A matches against Fiorentina on Saturday: the remaining games of the season will be crucial also from a financial perspective and be worth up to €100m, reports Gazzetta.

Questions have been raised over how much longer the Nerazzurri can afford to stick with Inzaghi, who will have to impress during the remaining games of the season to convince his employers to keep him in his job beyond the end of the season.

The next few games in Inter’s season could be not only costly for the coach, but also for the club as a whole, as well.

In fact, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter’s final games of this campaign could be worth up to €100m depending on their fortunes in Serie A and the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri have featured in Europe’s top competition in all of the last five editions of the tournament with great financial reward.

Not including gate receipts, Inter look set to take home at least €75m from this year’s Champions League campaign thanks to their run to the last eight. That figure will increase significantly if they get past Benfica to make it to the semi-finals.

In their forecasted budget for the season, Inter were banking on taking home just €30m from their European campaign, meaning they have already taken home €45m more than they had expected to this season.

Then there is the matter of Serie A, where the difference between second and fourth place in the league, where Inter now find themselves after the weekend, comes at a value of almost €10m.

Inter are also, of course, still in the Coppa Italia, due to play Juventus in the first leg of the semi-final on Tuesday night. If they were to go all the way in that competition, they would also take home an extra €4.5m in competition prize money alone.

The best case scenario would of course be to win both cups and qualify for next year’s Champions League. On the other hand, the worst eventuality would be elimination from both cups and failure to finish in the top four in the league.

Gazzetta reports that the difference between the best and worst case scenarios comes with a financial difference of €100m.

For Inter and Inzaghi alike, the upcoming games in Inter’s schedule are absolutely crucial.
