Inter signed Andre Onana because he is good with his feet and he confirmed it by playing as a sweeper keeper for Cameroon and setting a World Cup record.

The former Ajax shot-stopper was picked up as a free agent over the summer to take over the gloves at San Siro from Samir Handanovic.

Among the reasons given for the switch was that Onana is excellent with his feet, something fans already recognised when he provided an assist in the 3-3 Champions League draw with Barcelona.

Onana really confirmed that tendency today in the opening World Cup game with Cameroon in Qatar, which saw him beaten 1-0 by Switzerland.

The heatmap shows he brought back the idea of the sweeper keeper and the statistics are even more remarkable.

Onana had 61 touches, more than any other goalkeeper so far at the 2022 World Cup, and 26 of them were outside his own penalty area.

He attempted 53 passes and completed 39.
