Robin Gosens discussed his lack of regular playing time at Inter, tomorrow’s clash against Bayern Munich and the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

The 28-year-old German wing back has had limited opportunities on the pitch under Simone Inzaghi this season, only starting once in nine Serie A appearances. Gosens has only played 181 minutes of action and rumours are linking him with a move away from the Nerazzurri in the upcoming January transfer window.

Speaking in a press conference, Gosens first discussed how it feels to return to Germany to face Bayern Munich, his opportunities at Inter and if he’ll end the season at the club.

“So many questions… Surely it’s a strong emotion to be here, we played the European Championship here with Germany and I scored a goal against Portugal, from there my career changed and it was one of the best moments I’ve experienced.

“Obviously a player always wants to play, but it’s not always that easy, there’s not just one reason why I’m playing less. There was a long stop and there was an underestimation of my injury on my part, but right now it’s important that I feel good, I feel almost like the old Robin I was before.

“I’m fine and I hope to find more chances, but you also have to accept that the team is running well and that Dimarco is fine, I have to fight for the moment that will come.”

He gave his thoughts on tomorrow’s clash against Bayern.

“For me it’s important, for the team, we won’t be the same as the first leg. We have grown very well and it will be good to measure ourselves against one of the top teams in Europe. I’m looking forward to it, for me it’s a special match, I have beautiful memories in this stadium.

“My life has taken a different path here, after the Portugal game. I have goosebumps when I think back, it’s a special game for me, I have many friends and acquaintances who will come.

“Everything is already decided if we look at the group, but I’m looking forward to the Champions League.”

The 28-year-old commented on if he was at risk of missing out on the Germany squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

“The risk is there, the players who do well in their clubs, they play for go to the World Cup. But I’ve done well for the national team, the only thing I can do is to keep training well when I get in and when I can show myself, I hope the coach will see that.”

Finally, Gosens discussed what kind of match he expects against Bayern tomorrow.

“It’s a great challenge for us to see where we are at. We are another team compared to the first leg, we have grown and now I am very curious to see tomorrow how we are able to handle one of the strongest teams in the world right now.

“It will be a great challenge even if it is less interesting on a sporting level.”
