Robin Gosens highlighted his mentality and discipline, his thoughts on the city of Milan and how it felt to score against Barcelona.
The 28-year-old German wing back has not had the easiest time with the Nerazzurri since arriving in January of this year. Gosens arrived with a hamstring injury and struggled for consistent minutes following his recovery, an issue he’s also dealing with this season.
Gosens scored a key goal against Barcelona in the Champions League this week and will be hoping for more chances in the coming games.
Speaking in the Inter matchday programme, Gosens first discussed the importance of a good mentality and discipline.
“They are two essential characteristics for me, I wouldn’t be here without them. Having fun on the football pitch is also fundamental, it’s something that has made the difference, I’ve always had fun and this has remained. Even if there is pressure now, I’ve always held on to my love of football.”
He reflected on some of the cities he’s lived in during his career.
“I made my professional debut in Dordrecht, a small city in the Netherlands but very important for me. In Bergamo I grew as a person and as a player, it was an intense experience.
“Milan is a unique city, down when I was in Bergamo I used to visit it often, it’s beautiful and modern, and now I’m happy to be here.”
Finally, Gosens commented on how it felt to score such a key goal against Barcelona.
“I’m a very lucky man, entering Camp Nou and scoring an important goal for the team is a unique emotion.”
This season, the 28-year-old Gosens has played 339 minutes of action across 11 games in Serie A and the Champions League, only making three starts under Simone Inzaghi.
