The agent working as an intermediary with Bayern Munich confirms Benjamin Pavard ‘is very close to Inter, all we need is for Bayern to find’ someone who can replace him. ‘There is no more distance between the clubs.’

The talks had seemed to be heading towards a positive solution until Friday evening, when Sky Sports Deutschland suddenly announced the Bundesliga giants were slamming the door shut and refusing to sell Pavard.

That was always going to be a tricky position to hold on to, especially as his contract only runs to the end of the season.

Last night, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta confirmed the negotiations were “very much open” and that Pavard has told both clubs he wants to join the Nerazzurri.

According to intermediary Giovanni Branchini, the clubs have now shaken hands on a deal and are just waiting for Bayern Munich to replace him in the squad.

“Pavard is very close to Inter,” Branchini told Radio Sportiva today.

“At this point, all that we need is for Bayern to find not a replacement, but someone who can challenge Mazraoui as right-back. In that case, the operation with the Nerazzurri will be completed by the end of the transfer window.

“I think as of today there is no more distance between the clubs, we are just waiting for that solution to be found.”

It is believed the agreement is worth circa €25m plus add-ons to reach the €30m asking price for the France international.

Although he plays as a right-back at Bayern Munich, Inter would see him more as a central defender on the right side of a three-man back line.

The 27-year-old had also been linked with Manchester United and has 49 senior caps for France.
