Inter have reportedly convinced Racing Club striker Lautaro Martinez to snub Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid by relying on Argentina legends.

According to Sportitalia, the Nerazzurri have been working behind the scenes for many months to lay the groundwork for this swoop thanks to former Inter players Diego Milito and Javier Zanetti.

While Zanetti is the current Inter Vice-President, Milito was teammates with Martinez at Racing Club until his retirement in 2016.

A meeting is expected this weekend to help push forward the deal worth €20m including various bonuses.

“I learned so much from Milito. I’m almost embarrassed when speaking to him and Lisandro Lopez,” 20-year-old Martinez told Goal.com.

“We all know the kind of player Diego was. He really helps you off the field and with advice in the locker room too.

“People keep asking me where I’m going: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid or Inter? I try to focus on what I want and enjoy this dream.

“I have always said that Spanish football would suit my characteristics, but I love Italian football too. The English game is more about intensity than technique, so it might be trickier for me.”
