Chelsea are trying to include a player as part of their Romelu Lukaku bid, probably Emerson Palmieri, but Inter only want cash, while the Belgian agrees a huge salary package.

Lukaku has seemingly already worked out personal terms for a return to Stamford Bridge, with La Repubblica explaining he’ll receive €15m per season wages for four years, plus a €3m signing-on fee.

The only issue is getting Inter to accept a transfer fee, and that is proving a little more difficult than first anticipated.

Their most recent bid of €100m plus Marcos Alonso was rejected, with growing pressure on President Steven Zhang from not only the fans, but also his directors Piero Ausilio and Beppe Marotta.

That makes it likely they will only accept €130m cash, whereas Chelsea’s latest bid is expected to include a different player.

With Marcos Alonso not appreciated by the Nerazzurri, the Gazzetta dello Sport claims they are going to try including either Emerson Palmieri or Davide Zappacosta.

Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà maintains Inter could accept €115-120m in cash plus bonuses, but it has to be a pure cash sum without a player exchange.

Chelsea will play in the European Super Cup against Villarreal on August 11 and hope to have Lukaku in their ranks by then.
