Inter director Piero Ausilio reveals they “turned down over €25m” for Mauro Icardi, while Fredy Guarin could remain.

The Nerazzurri have been active over the transfer market and there are reports linking Icardi with the likes of AS Monaco, Roma, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.

“We already received an offer of over €25m for Icardi and turned it down,” Ausilio told the Corriere della Sera.

“Both he and Mateo Kovacic are untouchable, because they are fundamental for our project.

“We built the team respecting certain economic parameters. We chose, following Walter Mazzarri’s indications, only players with great ambition, sense of belonging, determination, grit and naturally quality.”

There are reports Colombian midfielder Guarin could head to Manchester United as an alternative to Arturo Vidal.

“Who else will arrive? Even if it’s not going to make a splash in the media, I won’t rule out this being our squad for the start of the season. With Guarin too? Yes, him too.”

Ausilio was also asked about the FIGC election tomorrow, as Inter have been silent on whether they’ll stick with Carlo Tavecchio after his racist comments, go for Demetrio Albertini or decline to vote.

“Does Erick Thohir know who Tavecchio is? The President knows where to place his vote and has already given Marco Fassone precise instructions.”
