Inter are still in the running for Lorenzo Insigne, claim Sky Sport Italia, but they want a discount on the €25-30m Napoli asking price.

The Partenopei captain’s contract expires in June 2022 and the odds of an extension seem frankly slim, as it’s reported he wants a pay rise, whereas the club has offered a lower salary than he currently earns.

It has been said by numerous sources that Inter are ready to swoop for the Italy international as a bargain buy.

However, Sky Sport Italia insist that the Nerazzurri believe €25-30m is too much for a 30-year-old in the last season of his contract, knowing the situation at Napoli.

They could therefore try to negotiate it down to €20m or even less.

Insigne is fresh from winning UEFA EURO 2020 with Italy and last season contributed 19 goals and 11 assists in 48 competitive games for Napoli.

Inter are currently in negotiations with Lazio for Joaquin Correa, who has an even bigger asking price than Insigne at €35-40m.
