Italian reports claim the delays are because the Old Trafford club suddenly changed the terms of the deal last night.
Rather than a free loan with €12-15m option to buy and Roma paying only €4-5m of his salary, Manchester United now want some sort of remuneration for the season-long loan and for the Giallorossi to pay at least half the wages during that period.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Sanchez was told months ago that he would be released as soon as he found a club prepared to take him on loan and that the Red Devils would pay a portion of his salary.
Perhaps having seen the media and fan reaction to these terms, which reportedly had Manchester United covering 75 per cent of his wages, they changed their minds and asked for more money.
As the Premier League deadline has passed, they are also in no particular hurry to get the deal done, whereas Inter want Alexis in the squad ahead of Monday’s Serie A opener against Lecce.
