Inter welcome Salzburg to the San Siro on Wednesday for an all-important Champions League match day three clash. Sitting in second place with a one-point lead over their opponents in the table, a win would set the Nerazzurri up nicely for the second half of the group stage.
Simone Inzaghi’s side have good reason to be confident as they go into the match, with just one defeat in all competitions. That having been said, their opposition have been similarly impressive, with one league defeat and a loss in the Champions League to group leaders Real Sociedad.
As a result, Wednesday’s match could well be a close one. But with the home advantage, we back Inter to take a valuable three points at the San Siro.
While the end result may be uncertain, what appears likely ahead of the clash is that there will be no shortage of goals. Both sides have provided plenty of entertaining football before the international break. A wager on a high-scoring result may therefore be worth investigating.
Similarly, Inter has solid goal scoring form against their opponents. The sides have met in two recent friendlies and on both occasions, the Nerazzurri have scored four. Going into Wednesday’s game, a bet on the hosts to keep up their goal scoring form by scoring multiple goals against Salzburg could pay off.
On the subject of goals, another area in which the two sides are similar is their attacking front lines. Lautaro Martinez has taken the Inter armband this season and carried himself accordingly, leading from the front by breaking into double figures with just eight matches gone. The Argentine is our tip to score first at the San Siro this week.
At the other end of the pitch, Salzburg’s Karim Konate is also providing no shortage of excitement, scoring a goal every other game in the Bundesliga at the age of just 19. While he may not be used to the standard of Inter’s defence, a bet on the forward to score at any time may still be worthwhile.
