The Nerazzurri get back to Serie A action on Sunday after their Champions League exploits and most Inter vs. Salernitana will favour the San Siro side. There needs to be a marked improvement in the league though now.

Inter vs. Salernitana odds

1 – Inter to win to nil – 5/4

2 – Over 2.5 goals scored – 4/9

3 – Edin Džeko to score at any time – 21/20

4 – Both teams not to score  – 19/20

5 – Half time/Full time Inter/Inter – 5/6

Inter need to forget about the Champions League and get back to consistently winning in Serie A if they are to challenge at the top this season. A home game against Salernitana on Sunday would seem to be the perfect opportunity to pick up three more points.

But Simone Inzaghi’s side has not been overly impressive in Serie A this season, losing four of their nine games – and two of the last three. A win away at Sassuolo last weekend saw the Nerazzurri climb to seventh but Inzaghi will know that the pressure is now on.

A convincing victory is needed and that could end up being the case at the San Siro this weekend. Inter have not been able to keep many clean sheets so far this season but this game could give them a great chance of achieving that.

Salernitana came back well from the thrashing handed out by Sassuolo to score a last minute winner against Hellas Verona last weekend. But they may find breaking through the Inter defence a little bit more difficult.

Although he has barely featured, they will have to do without Franck Ribéry, who has announced his retirement after struggling with injury over the last few years. He is still deciding what his future holds but has acted as a great inspiration to younger players at the club and could stay in a more senior role.

But, for now, Davide Nicola will have to figure out how to keep out the attacking talents of Lautaro Martinez and Edin Džeko, while hoping that Krzysztof Piatek and Boulaye Dia can develop their own strike partnership.

Inter team news

Simone Inzaghi will wait to see how his players come through the demanding Champions League test against Barcelona in the week – but could change around the starting eleven from the one that began against Sassuolo. De Vrij and Škriniar could come in at the back and Mkhitaryan may start in the middle of the pitch.

Salernitana team news

Davide Nicola will have to do without midfielder Ivan Radovanović, who was sent off in the win over Verona last week. Boulaye Dia should get the nod to start up front as well, after scoring in that game. Federico Bonazzoli will probably be the one to make way.
