Serie A returns after the international break and many Inter vs. Roma predictions will have this classic match-up as tough to call. Both sides lost last time out and will be keen to pick up some points and break into the top four.

Inter vs. Roma odds

1 – The draw – 13/5

2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 1/1

3 – Correct score 1-1 – 6/1

4 – Both teams to score  – 4/6

5 – Tammy Abraham to score at any time – 2/1

Simone Inzaghi looked to be struggling with selection problems in the defeat to Udinese before the international break. His curious early substitutions did nothing to improve Inter’s play and he will have to do without Marcelo Brozović again for this one, as the Croatian sits out his suspension, while an injury picked up on international duty is a concern for the longer-term.

Inter have already lost three games this season and have not looked like they will be able to snatch the scudetto away from their city rivals this season so far. Getting back on track will be the most important task though, so a draw – even at home – should be seen as a positive result against Jose Mourinho’s Roma.

Inter have scored – and conceded – goals this season but Inzaghi will be looking for a tighter defensive display, so a low-scoring game might be on the cards too at the San Siro on Saturday evening.

That result would probably suit Roma as well, even though the Giallorossi also lost their last fixture. Mourinho will be struggling to work out how Atalanta triumphed in that one though, as Roma were the better team and had more goal scoring opportunities than their hosts.

Tammy Abraham, in particular, should have put his team ahead on a number of occasions and it would not be a surprise if he returns from international duty and scores for his club. He was named in the England squad for the recent Nations League games but didn’t see any game time.

Roma will look to ruin Inter’s day with a group of highly talented attacking players. But Mourinho is always more cautious of not conceding and will plan to frustrate the Nerazzurri and come away from Milan without at least a point.

Inter vs. Roma line-ups

Inter (3-5-2): Handanaović; de Vrij, Bastoni, Škriniar; Dimarco, Gagliardini, Mkhitaryan, Barella, Dumfries; Džeko; Martinez

Roma (3-4-2-1): Patricio; Smalling, Ibañez, Mancini; Spinazzola, Cristante, Matić, Çelik; Dybala, Zaniolo; Abraham

Inter team news

Inzaghi should bring back Bastoni after subbing him after only half an hour last time out – and de Vrij could also earn a recall in defence. Brozović is suspended, so Gagliardini might start in the middle with Mkhitaryan as Çalhanoglu is out. Lukaku is also still injured, so Džeko will partner Martinez up front.

Roma team news

Captain Lorenzo Pellegrini could be out for this one but Mourinho will be happy to welcome back Paulo Dybala after the Argentinian injured himself in the warm up before the game against Atalanta. Matić could also keep his place in the middle of the field.
