Zaniolo Brozovic

It is a top-of-the-table clash in these Inter vs. Roma predictions, as Jose Mourinho travels to forming stomping ground San Siro once again. The hosts are looking to remain in the Scudetto race, while the visitors hope to make the Serie A top four.

Inter vs. Roma odds

1 – Inter to win – 4/6

2 – Abraham to score anytime at – 23/10

3 – Both teams to score – 7/10

4 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 6/5

5 – One-goal winning margin – 11/8

Inter host Roma this weekend in their final big test in the run-in of the Serie A season. The Nerazzurri sit second in the table behind their city rivals, but come up against the in-form team in the league on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho’s Roma appear to have finally found their feet, losing just once in their last 12 games in all competitions and finally beating their bogey team Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Conference League. Furthermore, having won five out of their last six, the Giallorossi are tied with Fiorentina for the best run in Serie A.

That said, the hosts this weekend have the psychological advantage, having beaten Roma 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico this season. While the scoreline on that day may look bad, the performance of the Lupi was even worse and Mourinho’s side may be concerned that they are in line for another hammering. With 12 points separating the two sides in the league table, an Inter win edges our tip for which team will prevail on Saturday.

Even so, this top-five clash is expected to be very close, with the two teams well matched on paper. Two impressive front lines see Lautaro Martinez and Tammy Abraham tied on goals scored this season with 15 apiece. The Roma man has become a focal point for the club and is our favourite to score anytime at San Siro, while a bet on both teams to score also looks likely to pay off.

Despite the impressive offensive performances of both teams, it has been their back lines that have made the difference this season. Inter are currently leading the defensive charts, having conceded just 0.8 goals per game. Roma, meanwhile, have conceded just three in their last six Serie A matches. As a result, a low-scoring game with less that 2.5 goals appears a good bet for Saturday.

With so much on the line for both sides, neither is expected to play particularly risky football. Instead, a winning margin of just one goal could pay out in this fixture.

Inter vs. Roma line-ups

Inter (3-5-2): Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, D’Ambrosio; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Perisic; Martinez, Dzeko.

Roma (3-4-2-1): Patricio; Kumbulla, Smalling, Ibanez; Karsdorp, Cristante, Oliveira, Zalewski; Zaniolo, Pellegrini; Abraham.

Inter team news

Alessandro Bastoni is the only absentee for Simone Inzaghi, who has seen Danilo D’Ambrosio step up in his absence. The manager has four forwards to select from, with both Martinez and Sanchez pushing for starts by scoring off the bench last weekend against Spezia.

Roma team news

Jose Mourinho has his full squad to select from for the first time in the campaign and may struggle to fit Henrik Mikhitaryan, Nicolo Zaniolo and Lorenzo Pellegrini into the same XI. Despite numerous options in midfield and at full-back, the manager is unlikely to make many changes to the side that started against Napoli on Monday evening.

  1. Zaniolo out due to disciplinary points? And injury? Inter 2-Roma 1. Though I want to say Daje Roma!
