Inter centre-back Andrea Ranocchia could continue his Serie A career and not move too far from home either, as newly-promoted Monza are interested.

The defender has reached the end of the road with Inter, as the 34-year-old will not have his contract extended when it expires on June 30.

He had been at the club since January 2011, although there were also loan spells at Sampdoria and Hull City.

Ranocchia made only 10 competitive appearances for the Nerazzurri this season, but still scored one goal on their way to the Coppa Italia triumph.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the veteran Italy international could continue his Serie A career in the Lombardy region with Monza.

The club earned promotion via the Serie B play-offs and will be in the top flight for the first time in their history.

Monza are owned by former Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi and run by his long-term assistant Adriano Galliani.
