Inter Ultras from Curva Nord thanked ex-President Steven Zhang for the results obtained during his tenure and told Oaktree that they expect to see respect for the club’s history and the continuation of the sporting project.

Oaktree confirmed Inter’s acquisition with an official statement on Wednesday morning after Zhang failed to repay a nearly €400m debt, including interests.

Most Inter fans on social media have been thanking the ex-Nerazzurri president for the results obtained during his eight-year reign.

The Nerazzurri returned to the Champions League and won seven titles, including two Scudetti, during the Suning era si die-hard ultras in Curva Nord expressed their gratitude to Zhang as well.

“The Curva Nord thanks President Steven Zhang for his contribution to Inter’s history, the excellent results obtained and the style worthy of his most distinguished predecessors,” Inter ultras wrote in a statement on their official Instagram account.

“We hope to see him soon at the stadium, sitting close to his Interesting brothers, we wish him and his loved ones all the best for the future of his personal and professional career.

“The Curva Nord has the deepest hope that those who succeed the young president will be able to continue the current sporting project, always ensuring respect for Inter’s history and the people who represent it in Milan, Italy, and around the world.”

Oaktree said in its official statement that the plan is to “achieve the best outcome for the long-term prosperity” of the club, suggesting that the American fund is planning to keep control of the Serie A giants at least in the near future.

  1. The Curva does not need to tell Oaktree what to do. Oaktree is in the business of taking financially distressed companies and making them viable. Inter has already solid management and this will help Oaktree to run Inter solidly with the ultimate goal of finding Inter Milan FC a viable and buyer! Forza Inter!

  2. Suning didn’t know how to run a club in their home country, and they showed they couldn’t fiscally manage Inter. I’m glad there’s a change in ownership.
