Inter ultras have released a statement calling for the squad to take responsibility after their disappointing start to the season.

The Nerazzurri have lost three of their opening seven Serie A games this campaign, all of which were suffered after the team initially went ahead. Yesterday’s 3-1 loss to Udinese was another example of this, an exasperating defeat that leaves many scratching their heads heading into the international break.

On their Facebook page, Inter ultras from the Curva Nord have called on the players to take some responsibility for the situation and not entirely blame coach Simone Inzaghi.

“We’re bombarded with requests from hysterical ‘social media fans’ who sing the praises of revolution… behind the backs of others (usually ours). Reality, when approached from an overall perspective, is much more complex than a hasty ‘Inzaghi-out’

“Key points: Tolerance is over; the coach has certainly made mistakes but… no excuses for the players who, since time immemorial, wallow in these situations putting their egos before the group.

“And this is not good for us. When we return from the national teams, the squad changes…. Everyone must be made to face their responsibilities. We fight together, we come out together.”

Inter’s rough start means they currently sit 7th in the Serie A table after the opening seven games, picking up 12 points from four wins and three losses. In the Champions League, the Nerazzurri lost their opener to Bayern Munich but did secure a victory over Viktoria Plzen.

Inzaghi’s side will have to dig deep ahead of their next matches against Roma on October 1 and Barcelona on October 4.
