With Atalanta reticent to let Duvan Zapata go, Inter are reportedly turning their focus towards Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst.

Edin Dzeko has already been brought in practically for free from Roma, but is not enough to replace Romelu Lukaku.

The first choice was Duvan Zapata and La Repubblica suggest he has agreed personal terms, but Atalanta won’t let him go without a suitable replacement.

Now Sky Sport Italia insist Inter have turned to a new target, Wolfsburg centre-forward Weghorst.

He just turned 29 this month and has 10 senior caps for the Netherlands, scoring two goals.

His contract runs to June 2023 and transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio claims a deal can be done for as little as €15-20m.

That is approximately half of what Duvan Zapata or Lazio forward Joaquin Correa would cost.

Weghorst left the Netherlands and AZ Alkmaar in 2018 for Wolfsburg and has already found the net twice in two games so far this season.

Last term, he scored 25 goals with nine assists in 41 competitive appearances.

He’d be the second Dutch signing for Inter this summer after Denzel Dumfries arrived from PSV Eindhoven for €12m plus bonuses.
