The latest candidate to reinforce the Inter defence is Brazilian Robert Renan, who is currently at Internacional on loan from Zenit St. Petersburg.

It is no secret that the Nerazzurri need a centre-back who could also work on the left and had been on the verge of securing Colombia international Juan Cabal from Hellas Verona until he joined Juventus instead.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the reigning Champions of Italy have turned their focus towards South America again.

Renan intriguing for Inter

The target is Renan, who will turn 21 in October and is currently playing for Internacional.

This is only a loan, as Zenit St. Petersburg signed the former Corinthians youth product in January 2023 and sent him to Internacional on a one-year loan in January 2024.

Renan is on the outskirts of the Brazil national team and that means he has quite a high price-tag, in the region of €10m, so it remains to be seen if Inter will commit those funds to signing a relatively unknown quantity for European football.
