Inter thought they had signed a Dumfries heir on the right flank just a couple of weeks ago as the Serie A title holders had reached an agreement with Atalanta and their defender Palestra over a €50m transfer.
However, the Italian right-back ultimately decided to join Chelsea in a €60m deal and for a way higher salary than the one offered by Inter.
