According to Il Corriere dello Sport paper, Inter have informed the organizers of the Florida Cup, they want to withdraw from the friendly tournament because of the spread of the COVID Delta Variant.

Inter were expected to travel to the USA on Thursday, but the Rome-based paper reports the Nerazzurri have informed the organizers of the tournament that they are not planning to leave Italy for ‘health reasons.’

The Nerazzurri want to avoid joining crowded events and lengthy trips due to the spread of the COVID Delta Variant.

Inter are supposed to face Arsenal in the semi-final of the friendly summer tournament at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando on Sunday, July 25.

However, according to the report, the game will not take place as Inter will not travel to the USA.

If the club’s decision is confirmed, Inter will have to pay a cancellation fee.

According to the report, the Serie A champions could officially confirm their decision to withdraw today.

Inter faced Lugano in the first summer friendly under Simone Inzaghi last weekend, winning on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regular time.
