Inter to pay Sommer release clause – report

La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Inter have decided to activate Yann Sommer’s release clause at Bayern Munich.

The Nerazzurri are currently without any first-choice goalkeepers following the recent departures of Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic, leaving them to rely on youngster Filip Stankovic in their pre-season tour in Japan.

Sommer has long been identified by Inter as their top option, but things have progressed slowly as the club looked to receive a discount on his €6m release clause.

Page six of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Inter have now decided to pay Sommer’s release clause and they’ll contact Bayern Munich today to confirm their choice.

The 34-year-old Swiss shot stopper has already agreed to the terms of a contract with the Nerazzurri and a deal could be completed in the coming days, allowing him to put pen to paper next week.

Inter are now working on finding a second goalkeeper and are considering a number of options, from Sampdoria’s Emil Audero to Shakhtar Donetsk’s Anatoliy Trubin.
