There will be a very special guest at San Siro ahead of Inter’s game with Bologna, as Andrea Ranocchia will be honoured before kick-off.

The former defender announced his retirement in September, just a few weeks after leaving Inter for Monza, after suffering a serious ankle injury.

He visited the Inter training ground this week to see his former teammates and will be in the stands tonight when they face Bologna.

Ranocchia will receive a special jersey marking his 226 appearances for the club and get to salute the fans at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The 34-year-old was also the captain of Inter, winning the Scudetto, two editions of the Coppa Italia and the Italian Supercup.

His other clubs were Arezzo, Genoa, Bari, Sampdoria, Hull City and Monza.

  1. I remember him and Bonucci playing in Bari. Both were talents with enormous potential. It was said that Andrea was better than Leonardo. But, as things often happen, one never managed to open up his full potential. Too bad.
