Emerson Royal has been mentioned as the ideal Inter replacement should Achraf Hakimi be sold, but he seems to have his heart set on Barcelona after a Real Betis loan.

Hakimi is said to be on the transfer market for the cash-strapped Nerazzurri, hoping to get €80m from a bidding war between PSG, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

Multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and the Gazzetta dello Sport point to Emerson Royal as his heir at San Siro.

The 22-year-old Brazilian is owned by Barcelona, but has been on loan at Real Betis since February 2019.

This season he contributed two goals and four assists in 38 competitive games.

“Everyone knows I have a three-year contract with Barcelona and will return there on July 1,” he said from the Brazil international camp.

“As I already said, Barca told Betis they wanted to focus on me for next season. I am happy, as this is the club I dreamed of representing since the start of my career.

“I can’t wait to return and prove myself at Barcelona.”
