Inter have released a statement assuring they are co-operating with the financial police to provide paperwork, but that ‘no Inter employee is under investigation.’

The club and fans were shaken today when the offices were raided by the Guardia Di Finanza seeking evidence related to the on-going and growing investigation into potentially inflated transfer valuations.

These inflated valuations allow players to move from one club to another for officially far more than they are worth, the ‘plusvalenze’ – capital gains – considered a form of false accounting to balance the books.

Inter released a statement this evening after their offices were visited.

Zaniolo, Pinamonti and more – The list of Inter’s suspicious transfers

“FC Internazionale confirms it provided the documentation that was requested with regards to the sale of some players in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

“The request came from the Procura in Milan to verify the regular accounting of the relative capital gains.

“The club balance sheets are redacted, in respect of the most rigorous accounting principles.

“No Inter employees are under investigation. No charge was formalised. As the statement from the Procura makes clear, these are purely preliminary investigations.”

This is the latest step in the growing investigation into plusvalenze in European football, with Juventus having already been investigated.

More clubs are expected to follow suit, as the use of this accounting technique requires both clubs in a transfer deal to agree on the valuation of a player.

When it is artificially inflated, it can help both clubs to balance the books, making it seem as if more valuable assets are being sold and bought.

  1. Hi Samya Ibrahim, read this well

“No Inter employees are under investigation. No charge was formalised. As the statement from the Procura makes clear, these are purely preliminary investigations.”

  2. Maybe the prem should be investigated but that’ll never happen. There the money is filtered throughout and everything is covered up.
How many overpriced and overvalued players have moved from, to and around the league.
Not saying this to say Serie A is much better… But at least it doesn’t matter the status of a club in the league or throughout the World. However, when it comes to Serie A. The negatives are always told and blown out of proportion. Football is a joke overall and everywhere
