Inter have reportedly begun negotiations with Shakhtar Donetsk for goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin, preparing in case Andre Onana goes to Manchester United.

The Nerazzurri had already chosen the ideal replacement for Onana in the form of Empoli shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario, but he completed his €20m transfer to Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

Instead, Calciomercato.com and Sportitalia both report that Inter have started talks with Shakhtar Donetsk to pick up Ukraine international Trubin.

He will turn 22 in August and already as seven senior caps under his belt for Ukraine, but is currently in the European Under-21 Championship, where they have qualified for the quarter-finals.

A product of the Shakhtar Donetsk youth academy, his performances above all caught the eye in the Champions League.

He held out for a pair of 0-0 draws against Antonio Conte’s Inter in the group phase of the tournament a couple of years ago, contributing to their elimination.

Trubin’s current contract only runs to June 2024, so he would be available for an affordable fee.
