Inter star Edin Dzeko has recovered from COVID and will likely be available against Lazio on Sunday.

The former Roma star tested positive during the Christmas break and was not available for yesterday’s match against Bologna, which eventually was not played as the Rossoblu had been ordered into quarantine by the local health authority.

Sky Sport Italia report the 35-year-old’s swab test came back negative today so he will return to group training tomorrow and be available against Lazio on Sunday.

According to Calciomercato.com, Dzeko tested positive for the latest rapid antigen test and trained separately from the group this morning.

He should return to group training tomorrow after a negative molecular swab test.

Dzeko is Inter’s best scorer this season with 11 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions.

Sky Sport says Dzeko may start on the bench against Lazio with Joaquin Correa and Lautaro Martinez up front.

Dzeko joined Inter from Roma on a free transfer in the summer and his contract at San Siro expires in June 2023.

Inter could get a 3-0 win by default for their game against Bologna as the Rossoblu mistakenly submitted their line-up for the match despite knowing that players were not allowed to go to the stadium and play the game.

  1. He did not recover from Covid. He did not have covid. He tested positive for the coronavirus.

Had he visited a doctor and been diagnosed, you could say he had covid.

But he did not. He tested positive and then he did not test positive.

    No recovery.
