Inter have no intention of taking up their option for Southampton full-back Cedric Soares, it’s reported, as they still want Matteo Darmian.

Cedric arrived on loan from the Saints in January at a cost of €500,000 with option to buy for another €11m.

He made only two Serie A appearances, two in the Europa League and one as a substitute in the Coppa Italia.

According to Tuttosport, the short-term replacement for injured Sime Vrsaljko will not be kept on once the season has concluded.

Instead, the €11m will be used as an offer to Manchester United for Darmian.

He had already been the main target in January, wanted also by Juventus, but United refused to sell for under €12m.

Darmian’s contract runs to June 2020 and Inter are reportedly ready to offer €7m plus bonuses up to €11m.
