Inter have been closely following Tigre striker Mateo Retegui for over a year and are planning to make a move in the summer, reports detail.

The 23-year-old Argentine-born striker shot to prominence after being called up by Italy coach Roberto Mancini for this international break. He made his debut for the Azzurri in their 2-1 defeat to England, scoring the only goal in a difficult Euro 2024 qualifier.

Retegui now seems destined to make the move to Serie A in the summer and one club in particular are leading the race to secure the 23-year-old’s signature.

As reported by Matteo Barzaghi of Sky Sports Italia, Inter have been keeping a close eye on Retegui for over a year now and have an excellent relationship with Tigre, giving them a boost in the chase for the striker.

Dario Baccin personally observed the Argentine-born striker in Italy’s defeat to England and was impressed with what he saw.

Retegui is currently at Tigre on a two-year loan deal from Boca Juniors, which’ll be made permanent in the summer for €2.5m. The Buenos Aires giants will keep 50% of a future resale on the talent.
