Inter set date for Skriniar contract talks, but PSG’s hope still alive

Inter will reportedly meet Milan Skriniar after the international break to discuss the defender’s contract extension, but PSG remain interested in the Slovakia international.

The 27-year-old sees his contract expire in June 2023 and Inter rejected several offers from PSG in the summer. The Serie A giants demanded €80m, a fee that the Ligue 1 giants never offered.

Skriniar had agreed to sign an €8m-a-year deal at the Parc des Princes over the summer. Inter know they can’t match the Ligue 1 giants’ proposal when they meet the player after the international break.

According to Calciomercato.com, that’s when the two parties will resume contract talks. Inter won’t offer more than €6.5m plus add-ons, making Skriniar the highest earner at the club after Romelu Lukaku, who has returned to the club on loan from Chelsea.

Skriniar had agreed to sign a new deal with Inter at the end of 2021-22, shaking hands over a €5.5m-a-year deal.

However, PSG’s offer has changed the scenario, so Inter are now open to offer a bit more, although not as much as the Ligue 1 giants.

If Skriniar rejects to extend his stay at the Stadio Meazza, the Serie A giants may be forced to sell him in January to avoid seeing him leave on a free transfer in the summer.
